Ping Qian

Prof. Ping Qian is a professor at the School of Animal Medicine, Huazhong Agricultural University, a leading talent in science and technology innovation of National "Ten Thousand People Plan", and a part-time veterinary director of Guangxi Yangxiang Group. He has long been engaged in research on prevention and control of major animal diseases and biosecurity. Prof. Ping has taken charge of many national key research and development programs, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and horizontal cooperation projects. He was the first researcher to report the isolation and identification of swine Seneca Valley virus, elucidate its pathogenicity and epidemiology, resolve the three-dimensional spatial structure of the virus and receptor, develop an inactivated vaccine and diagnostic reagents, and propose a prevention and control program for swine Seneca Valley virus disease in China. He also developed a new marker vaccine for swine fever and a differential diagnosis kit and obtained the new veterinary drug registration certificate of "swine fever virus E2 baculovirus inactivated vaccine (WH-09)". In addition, he has successively applied for or obtained 12 national invention patent authorizations, and one first prize for both scientific and technological progress and achievement promotion in Hubei Province. He has published more than 60 papers in PNAS and other journals at home and abroad.
