John F. Patience, PhD


John F. Patience is a professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at Iowa State University. He received his B.Sc. (Agr) and M.Sc. from the University of Guelph and Ph.D. from Cornell University. John’s research program focuses on energy metabolism, ingredient evaluation, wean-to-finish feeding and management and the impact of diet composition on gut health. He also has responsibilities in extension, providing service to pork producers across Iowa as well as the U.S. generally. John has published 122 refereed journal articles and more than 700 other publications. He has presented 389 invited talks in North and South America, Europe and Asia. He is a past winner of the AFIA Award in Nonruminant Nutrition Research and the  Extension Award, both presented by ASAS, the New Frontiers in Animal Nutrition Award, presented by FASS and the Honorary Master Pork Producer Award, presented by the Iowa Pork Producers Association.
